My Computer

Talking My New PC - What you think?

I have recently purchased and built a new gaming rig. The parts I have bought are as follows:

Antec P190 Case with 1200W PSU's.
XFX nVidia SLi 790i ATX Motherboard.
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 2.66GHz Socket 775 Processor.
Corsair TwinX DDR3 4GB 1333MHz Memory.
XFX GeForce 9800GX2 1GB PCI-E 2.0 Graphics Card.
LG Blu-Ray and HD-DVD Reader + DVD-RW SATA.
Samsung DVD-RW SATA.
Western Digital Raptor 150GB 10000RPM Hard Drive.
Seagate 1TB 7200RPM Hard Drive.
Windows Vista Ultimate x64 Edition OEM.
NorthQ Water Cooling Kit (Which arrived leaking, so have sent back for replacement.)

Due to the water cooling leaking before I even installed it, I am running the stock Intel Cooling for now, but will have a water cooling kit on sharpish.

I have found that the latest nVidia Driver for my graphics card works for about 15mins in a game, then the screen flashes and Vista tells me the driver has crashed and has recovered, but it screws the game up everytime. Any ideas how to fix this?!

Let me know.

Hey you've chosen EXACTLY the same specs as my next upgrade!!! apart from the case, psu and hdd (as im getting 2x velociraptor 300GB RAID0)

Looks very good mate and your ram is the right speeds, except I would probably get the 1600MHz (not 1333) if your planning to overclock in the future, thats the only thing I can see.

As for your game it wouldnt be Assassin's Creed by any chance as thats unsupportd for x64 systems, but as it says your drivers crashed I would roll it back, oh and thanks for letting me know

good choice, I like the water cooled idea, I may consider

ps, whats the advantage over water cooled? - and will a 850w PSU be ok any chance?... hey we're helping each other

850W Power Supply should be more then enough, make sure it is a decent make though. My Case came with some KICKASS Antec ones, what case are you going for?

The watercooling just means my system will be quiter and provide greater cooling performance. My CPU will stay at lower temperatures for longer even if the CPU is kicking out more heat. This does however depend on the efficieny of the CPU Block and Radiator etc. So, try to go for decent makes with proven technologies. Reviews are really useful in this area.

Veloci-Raptors! Wow, although the performance I see with my Raptor is almost the same as the 1TB Seagate, but games and operating system all in all load extremely fast. As for the game, it did it with pretty much every game, some quicker then others. I am going to roll back to Vista x86 32bit, and hope that the problem clears itself. Think it is mainly due to 64bit systems not really taking off, or becoming the 'Standard' as it were.

Thanks for the reply, shall keep you updated if anything else pops up.
