I have two hard drives, one is my master boot drive (60 gigs) and the other is my slave storage drive (160 gigs) I recently had to replace the old hard drive due to a fatal crash. I installed the new hard drive (a 60 gig, both hard drives are maxtor brand) then reinstalled my OS (XP Pro) However, after the OS set up finished, I couldn't access my 160 gig hard drive. When I try, it tells me that it is unformatted. Is there any way to fix this without formating it, and losing all the files I had backed up on it??
Thanks for your time ~Scott |

What version of XP are you using? If its not SP1 or 2, then windows can't detect any hard disks bigger than 120, I think.
If thats the case, go to windows update and get the latest updates for your system. Then you shoul be able to access it. |

So then I will have access to the files that were there? Oh yeah, I have SP1, its was one of the first release XP pro disc's. I should probably update anyway, thanks for the tip, I will see if that works.
