Default need opinion

until i can figure out why i cant boot to my cheetah drive attached via U320 adaptec scsi card with my new intel mobo (D975XBX2), i am forced to build my new system using 4 SATA drives. they are all identical 250MB western digital SE16 drives.

need opinions on how to configure...

i was thinking a RAID 0 stripe set using 2 drives for the OS for performance reasons, then a RAID 1 mirror for my data using the remaining 2 drives. the only thing that bothers me is that now i have a huge, almost 500GB volume for the OS! big waste obviously. so what other ideas do people have?

My Computer

I dont know wat u gonna put in this much space but thats really a hell lot of space. Usually Music nd Videos are the only thing that utilizes that much space only...Anyways,
If I would b at ur place then I will use two drives as RAID1 where I will store all my critical data. 1 drive for General purposes, anything that wouldnt hurt me if i loose them and one drive for OS with the partition of 20-25GB for windows only and u can again use the rest of space for any other purpose....

Reason I would like to make a Partition of windows...
1. Other data on the whole drive wouldnt hurt if I have to format and reinstall the windows..
2. It will take very less time coz it has to format only 20GB instead of 250GB.
