I really don't plan on doing any OCing, because of the possible damage to my system, maby when i get more advanced in the feild... And I'll check out the core 2.

Idk, price really isn't a HUGE issue with me... It's more about time and how up to date the system is. Idk... maby ill purchase all the main things (Case, OS, Drives, Etc.) Soon, and purchase the new tech when it comes out... I want this to be a learning experiance too.

I guess really what im asking is will it last, how long, is it good, and am i getting the bang for my buck?? Even though 64bit tech isn't at its prime just yet i wan't to be able to switch over from 32 bit to 64 bit seamlessly, so i can play my HL2, and my Oblivion on something that will last and be upgradable in the future...

vista will support core 2 duo aswell coz they are 64bit. even though you dont want to overclock, get the second cpu i showed u, the E6700, it is cheaper than the fx and will outperform it, plus when u get advanced u can overclock it and overclocking is not a thing to worry about, just dont increase the Vcore and increase just the fsb, if its a unsuccessful OC, the system will just restart and defaults will be loaded.

plus the intel cpu's have got thermal throttling so if the processor reaches a certain temperature, the computer will lower the clock speed of the processor and tey to lower its temp, if it cant do that, it will just switch the computer off.

Sounds like a good plan.... Not sure though... What I really want to be able to do, is play all my games on 32 at top preformance, and be able to switch to 64 bit system later... I also wan't to use a newer socket so it's more futureproof. If i build a system to support todays games, and it's using like a socket 775, It'l be less upgradable because 775 has lived its life, and is now in a old-system-home being suported only by its medicin and when the medicin is done, so is the socket... Heh... Well... Is the core duo Socket AM2? I'll look at it.

Core 2 uses LGA775, but the reason it doesn't work on older boards is because of the voltage regulators aren't able to provide the lower voltage Core 2 requires. 775 isn't dead yet, and Intel hasn't made a move to can it anytime soon. I'd still consider it if I were you. Core 2 is 32-bit/64-bit ready just like the Athlon 64's are, not to mention the E6400 is less than half the price of the FX-62 and performs just as well. Right now, Intel's CPU's are better than what AMD offers, and that's something we haven't been able to say for a few years now. If you want the best, you're cutting yourself short by not considering Core 2.

Secondly, XP 64-bit is a bad choice due to 3rd party support. Not all programs are supported, let alone drivers and games. 64-bit does have it's advantages, but I don't think we're likely to see a real push for 64-bit in droves until Vista hits, and those drivers will be for Vista.

One thing you may want to be careful of is the motherboard. If you're looking into a multi-GPU setup, realise that you'll need an Radeon Xpress chipset or Intel 975/P965 chipset for Crossfire, and an nForce 4/500 board for SLI. It's nothing to do with hardware, but the platform on which SLI and Crossfire will work is limited through drivers.

I see, I guess I'm just affraid of 775 dieing out just after or before I'm finished.. I looked at it and your Hella right about the price. Also I don't see anycomment's on any of my other equipment... sooo does that mean im making good choises?


Also... About how I'm gonna go along with building it... I'm gonna buy all the future proof shit first, then I'm gonna buy all the newer tech at the end of the year (Processor, MoBo, Ram, GPU... Etc) So then it'll be more Up to date and easyer to handel, and hoplefuly by that time the 64 bit support will be there, and if not, I'll stick with 64 bit compatable tech and use Windows XP Home Ed w/sp 2, so I can up it when vista does come out.

Also, since I'm buying 2 HD, I wana be able to do something with RAID, and I don't know too much about it other than it can preform really well... Wow that sounds really shtubid.
