Hi
I just purchased a new monitor and for some reason my PC doesn't boot when its connected via DVI. It just powers up but doesn't boot up. Though if I don't connect the DVI cable to the monitor it boots fine, then I connect the DVI cable after boot up and I can work around it that way, but its not an ideal solution. Appearing to be some kind of boot problem I updated to the latest BIOS but this made no difference. The monitor is a viewsonic VP2130b. I used to have a viewsonic VP720 connected via DVI and I had no issues with that. I have a ati x800 xt graphics card and intel d875bz motherboard. My PSU is only 300w or maybe 330w, could it possibly be because my PSU isn't powerful enough even though the screen has its own electricity cable? Any help appreciated, thanks. 300W is pretty low, and unless it's a PC Power & Cooling unit, I doubt any 300W is a good move to be powering anything fairly modern like that. I'm not sure if there's extra power requirements of DVI, but given how low your PSU is, there might be something that's just enough to push it over the edge to not boot.
