Default New Sound Coming From Computer

Hello, this is my first post.

I never installed anything into my computer before, as far as hardware goes. But I successfully installed a IDE hard drive a couple weeks ago.

I just started using it recently. While in use there is a new sound coming from the computer. Hard to describe, but I'll try. While the computer is turned on I can hear it, as regular the random processing it does with the fan spinning. This isn't loud at all.

Randomly while the new hard drive can be in use for a period of time it will make this sound. Like a strong hissing sound that begins for 3 minutes then fades away. Its not often but seems to be more noticeable now.

Logically since the sound didn't exist before I installed the hard drive, it must be it. To my knowledge the hard drive was installed perfectly, there was an empty slot which I slide it in and locked it in place.

What could this sound be?

Thanks for the help.

My Computer

firstly, how old is the IDE HDD you installed ?

the warranty expiration date printed on the HDD is a good guide

who is the manufacturer of the HDD you added ?

Edit: but realistically it is more likely that a fan (GPU, CPU or another fan) is slightly mis-aligned, possibly you accidentally & inadvertently touched or moved a fan while installing the HDD, it is very easy to do without noticing

remove the lid again, & listen very carefully to see if you can hear where the sound is coming from, if you still think it's the HDD, feel it by touching it because HDDs typically vibrate

and does the HDD spin up at system power up, touch it while you power on
