Angry No Sound from external speakers

Hi all,

I have recently bought a second hand computer. It's P4 1.6 ghz, 512 mb ram, Onboard speakers, Realtek AC'97 audio, WindowsXP sp2. When I play music or movies sounds comes property from onboard speaker. But when I plug in my external speakers in sound comes only from onboard speaker. This is with my headphones too. Any time I am getting sound from only onboard speakers.

I have checked all sound properties in control panel. I even formatted the hard disk and reinstalled WindowsXP but still problem not solved. Please note I have Realtek AC'97 Audio.

If you know the solution or you have any suggestion please post your reply. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I have a speaker inside the Cabinet, I am telling it onboard speaker. And it can play all the sound (ie.songs, videos etc.).

Thats really sounds stupid or there is some lack of information coz that inbuilt speaker in the Case is meant to be for System Beep codes n all...If thats the case then it means incorrect wiring for speakers..
