I started watching this one again. If you want a series to get into that's not the typical mecha and overexaggeration, you might like this one.

The story involves a professional assassin, Mirielle Bouquet, and a mysterious girl, Kirika Yuumera, trying to find out about Kirika's past. When they do, Mirielle promises that she will kill Kirika.

This is not some mindless fanservice with random violence. There's a lot of shooting, but it's almost bloodless. It's well written, and the European settings are excellent.
It does take awhile before the real plot starts rolling, but you'll be glad you kept watching it.
