Default Nvidia Vs. Nvidia Opionion/Comments Please

    Ok, I currently am running

Abit Board An8 (SLI Nvidia 16x blah blah) Sock-939
    Amd Athlon 64 3700+
    2GB OCZ RAM
and Two 7900Gt's in SLI (EVGA)

I was curious or weather or not
    1: Is my Computer Direct_X 10 ready
2: Would a 8800 GTX be a good replacement for Both my 7900's?

    Thanks

Yea, an 8800GTX would own both of those 7900's, and 7900's in your rig make your pc not DX10 ready.

Your cpu is abit slow though, concider upgrading to Dual core or switching mobo and cpu for Core 2 Duo.

But yea if you can afford it go with an 8800GTX.

But actually just a thought, concider waiting to see what ATi will offer for there DX10 option, it will most likely be better than the 8800GTX, i would wait and go with ATi, your motherboard will support one ATi card.

Yup. The 8800GTX is significantly faster than the Radeon X1950XTX, which is pretty much on par with dual 7900GTX's.

Your system will be fine for DX10, so far as we can tell.

I meant he should wait for the R600's from ATi.

7900's aint good for DX10, an 8800GTX obviously is, ownz every card on the market, but is gugested waiting untill ATi's DX10 cards, unless the X1950XT's are direct x :s, but i meant wait for the R600.

The X1900XT's were on par with the 7900GTX's, the X1950XTX's are better than the 7900GTX's slightly.

I'd Like to stay with the same MoBo so with that being said:
Would I be better off looking into an:
    Opteron, X2, or what?

These Seem to be the choice I have as far as Socket 939 Proc. any of them look worthwile?

Opterons are awsome overclockers and good, better than X2's i rekon.

If you wanted actually, you could stay with your current CPU, its preety good, and if you would do some overclocking, you could get that 3700+ up to 2.8ghz stable as most people do with the 3700+'s, at 2.8ghz these cpu's equal to an AMD Athlon FX57 @ Stock Speeds.

I've noticed in your sig that you clocked your Proc. up to 2.8 from 2.2, I would do you/ have you noticed any difference?
and would it be safe with stock cooling?
If so please direct me into the the right place where I can read/learn how to do OverClocking

    Thanks,

Hey, yea i noticed allot of difference, in a benchmark called aquamark 3 i managed to boost scores from 72000-75000 to 75000-80000 because of the cpu.

In games it really makes a difference, in a game like oblivion, i can play at max settings, but when my cpu is at stock speeds its too choppy to play.

At the moment i am at stock speeds coz i reset my bios and my battery ran out so its charging atm :p.

If you decide to overclock the cpu go slowely, 5mhz icnrements, when it cant go anyhigher on stock voltage, slightly raise it, always be monitoring temperatures. Also run Prime 95 for 12 - 24 hours.

I am confused what is really needed for an 8800GTX, i would think that 1000W PSU from enermax, Pc power & cooling, seasonic would be the best, but i would reccommend 800w+, i dont think a 520w PSU would be good enough, the reccommended for it is 450w, but i wouldent like to be running a pc with an 8800GTX in and a 450w psu.
