I have a toshiba A45 series laptop with the intel 810 chipset. My video card doesn't support hardware transform and lighting. Ive called the manufacturer and the video card is not upgradable. But, I've heard recently about pcmcia video cards for laptops. Does anyone have any information about this, where to find them, etc. And if not, does anyone have any information about how to solve the problem short of buying a new system?

Newer, high-end laptops from Dell and Alienware, among others, make use of modules to allow upgrades to the graphics system, but they're proprietary, and do not use the PCMCIA slot. The only thing you might be able to do short of buying a new system is upgrade the memory on the laptop and allocate the max amount you can for the shared video RAM. This is of course if you don't have 512MB on the system (which is all the 810 can use).

So, other than buying a new laptop with the said features, no, there isn't something you can really do to upgrade the video.

I've recently heard about docking stations that have agp or pci slots to put video cards in. does anyone know where i could possibly find one of these?

Check with your laptop company as laptops are different. I've not heard anything about this, but if they do exist, they've not been picked up on, they're very new, or there's something very wrong with them so they're not being put into work often.
