My Computer

Hopefully in the next couple of month's I'll be using a laptop.
Probably something along the lines of:

Core DUO 1.6GHz CPU
1GB DDR2 RAM
80GB HDD
Basic graphics as they're not really needed for general use, I don't really play games.

My Computer

Well I'm going to be getting my laptop in the next couple of weeks.
My Grandad gave me a cheque for £1,000 today (as a kind of 'Well done for getting into Uni - here's some money for your laptop etc'), I'm going to be spending a little over £700 on this laptop.

It's got Core DUO (1.66GHz, 2MB Cache), 1GB RAM, 80GB HDD and decent enough graphics for me.

I may call them about the 'low cost double memory offer' and see how much that is, if it's not too expensive, I'll probably get it.

It'll certainly put this pile of junk to shame, w00t!!

My Computer

The 256MB of additional RAM I bought (768MB total) a few months back was all I needed then. But now that I use VMware a fair amount I've found that I still don't have enough! I'll probably be looking to upgrade to at least a GB, probably 1.5GB.

My processor isn't that poweful either. I am suprised that my Celly 2.8 can (just about) handle running two OSes at the same time. I might consider getting a P4 (socket 478) but my computer is an emachines so it would be like putting a turbo engine into an old Morris Minor

Okay - my plan to get that laptop might change - I was thinking of spending £700 (the cheque clears on Monday) but on Monday I'm going to see my other Grandparents - they want to give me some money too

So we shall see what happens...

You rich b******, lol, I wish I was going into uni.

Onto my plans, I've just purchased my new 19" LCD monitor, which I haven't even switched on (with a functional PC) because my Asus motherboard is being repaired (second one in 6/7 months).

So, if it fails on me again, I'll hopefully be purchasing a new DFI Lanparty mobo (yay), and maybe some more XMS ram (another 1GB).

Yes it is dual core ^_^

I don't follow though - check my previous posts - There's 3 where I'm considering Core DUO.

See below:

Centrino isn't a type of CPU - Centrino is a mixture of Intel parts.

For something to carry the 'Centrino' label it must have:

Intel CPU
Intel Based WiFi
Intel Chipset.
