Hi, so I'm planning on putting together a new comp from scratch, and I've had these select few products in mind but before I go ahead and purchase them I figured I'd ask here to see what people think. Any changes or suggestions, etc. please let me know.
Newegg.com - XION II XON-101 Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 450W Power Supply - Retail Newegg.com - BIOSTAR TForce TF7025-M2 AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 7025 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail Newegg.com - AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Brisbane 2.6GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 65W Dual-Core Black Edition Processor - Retail Newegg.com - ARCTIC COOLING ACF64LP 60mm CPU Cooler for low profile PC - Retail I plan on putting these together and picking up 2x 1GB sticks of RAM from Best Buy (cuz I got a gift card) and putting 2 HDs I've got lieing around and a DVD+R Burner which is also lieing around to see how this baby runs. Also looking for some input on a good Graphics Card for this system (affordable please) for gaming. Any input is greatly appreciated, thanks! ALSO: Should I stick with the PSU that comes with the case? or should I invest in a larger one? |

On the parts you've already picked up, I would personally ditch the new heat sync you are looking at. The ones that come with CPUs are usually fine unless you are looking to do some overclocking.
I dont know what your budget is and what kind of gaming you are looking to do, but I would recommend getting a 9600gt as a good bang for your buck card: Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more! If your budget doesn't fit this card in, go for a 8600 which is much less: Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more! As you had asked, I would also recommend not getting the power supply that comes with the case: Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more! If you're going to buy your RAM at Best Buy, make sure you get it when its on sale. You should be able to get 2x1GB ddr2 for about $60. Check prices online for the same model RAM before going in. Also they price match, but I'm not sure if they will with online competitors, but its worth a shot. |
