My Computer

Exclamation Please help - sound issues - need new driver but don't know which one!!

Hi all,

Recently I have been experiencing crashes in-game whilst playing Oblivion and have determined through some tests that it has to do with my sound card. I want to update the driver to my sound card but do not know how to!

When I go on DxDiag, it says that my device (name) is 'Vinyl AC'97 Audio'. I tried visiting their website to download drivers but to now avail. their website is horrendous to use and did not seem to contain any drivers.
This is the part of the site I went to after googling my device.
Also, after googling my device I noticed that there was a driver/codec combo type thingy on download.com called 'VIA Vinyl AC'97 Codec Combo Driver 6.70b'.
The link to it is here

I was wandering if you guys could tell me if this is the right driver to get? I am not sure if it is and am worried to get it and install it. If this is not the right driver to get, could you please tell me where and how to get it?
If more information on my behalf is needed please let me know and I would be glad to post more.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much in advance.

Is your sound onboard or a PCI card???
You can try this...Go to Device Manager > Right Click your sound card and select update drivers..
or
Open IE > Tools > Windows Update > Select Custom button > When it finishes searching for the updates, you will see there is a link for hardware updates as well, if there are any hardware update avail there then just click on it and update

My Computer

My sound card is unfortunately onboard - I was thinking of upgrading and getting a sound card but I am buying a new pc in summer so there is no real point I figured.

As for the tips, I have already tried them but to no avail - thanks any how bud. However, on the elder scrolls forum another user posted me a link to where I could get a driver from. I would just like you guys to have a quick look at it to double check that this is the right one?? Thanks very much!

This is the link to the the elder scrolls forum where I posted my problem - the guy also mentioned reseting my codecs?

Here is the link to where I can find the the driver according to the other user. He said to get the second one on that list, the one for the K8MM-V mobo which is mine.

Go through MSI -- MICRO-STAR INT'L CO.,LTD. and find out the drivers supporting your MOBO...
