Hi,
My brother pulled out (or tugged on) a usb lead from the PS3, and the whole system came flying off the shelf with it. It probably fell about 6ft - thank god it still works (no scratches either, looks brand new!) Anyway, do you think there's an increased chance the HDD might fail in the future now it's been dropped? Thanks, Thomas p.s Don't think it makes any difference but it's the UK 60gb version (with ps2 software emulation - same as US 80gb). |

what do you think?
![]() The better something is treated the longer it lasts, however, just because your PS3 has been dropped once does not mean it won't last as long as any other PS3.

I'm not sure if the 2.5" drive the PS3 uses is more shock-resistant than an average drive or not. Off-hand, I don't know if 2.5" drives have more of this protection build in for the more mobile use they end up with (i.e. laptops), but drives themselves don't always respond well to being dropped. If you happen to hear any clicking during drive access, you'll know why.

Thanks, I still can't believe that it survived the fall... I might buy a new HDD for it in the end anyway because 60gb is quite small when some of the games take up HDD and I like to play movies on it.
