BTW: check there isn't a page 2, tried logging off and back on, logged out & restarted SF & logged back on, opened new tab & his post is still not visible

Yeah I deleted it because I mis-read your post! I thought you were saying that 'an 40 pin cable can support ATA-66'. But in fact what you were saying is that 'an 80 pin cable can support ATA-66'. I know the latter is true, but I am not sure about the former.

In fact, I am gonna find out right now... hold on

I guess I was right all along. A 40-pin IDE cable can only go so far as ATA-33.

sorry, just spotted my mistake / typo, yeah 40 pin cablels only support ATA/33 whereas 80 pin cables support ATA/33, 66, 100 & 133
