Default Post beep code help help please

hey buddy,

a friend of mine is having a problem with his pc.

his psu and motherboard fried so he bought a new psu and motherboard and hes getting some problems.

his setup is :

amdXP 2000+
asrock k7upgrade-600 motherboard
512mb ddr

what happens is when he switches on his pc everything powers up and then it beeps like this .. beepbeep <pause> *8 short beeps* .. then it resets.

help desperatly needed.

What BIOS has he got. I'm not sure which BIOS that mobo has.

turns out the primary ide connector on the motherboard was faulty.. just plugged the hdd as secondary and it works awesome. but no cd-drive

Personally, I'd get that motherboard replaced. Your friend paid for a fully working motherboard, and that's not what he has.
