Hi, ive recently bought a 42" 1080p LCD tv and im playing blu ray movies through my ps3. ive spent £45 on a good hdmi cable with 5* ratings from play.com. however the picture quality doesnt really blow me away. some shots are amazing and you can really tell they are HD but many scenes look rather grainy. does anyone else have this problem? does anyone know what I can do?

After you bought the new tv, did you ran the screen setup wizard on the PS3? You can access it at the Display settings.

It will all depend on the quality of the transfer to HD version, some movies will look great, some just ok. Which movie is it? try a different movie!

check your tv's menu and make sure you have DNR or digital noise reduction turned off as well as any other enhancement options.

with Blu-Ray or HD-Dvd though your going to notice the grain alot more than sd-dvd and on movies like 300 it's really pronounced.
