    I have Windows XP SP3 with IE7.
When I click on custom or express for windows updates I receive error.
The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view. Take the following steps to solving the problem:
    Refresh
    Delete Temporary Folder
    Close IE and reopen
IE(ADD-ons Disabled) mode only prevents the use of ActiveX controls, including those used by Microsoft Update website. To get updates using this browser mode, you need to turn on Automatic Updates on your computer and visit the Microsoft Update website. error number 0x80248007

I did the above 3 items it suggested and my IE add-on are enabled. I tried both methods on the below website, but still get the same message when trying to get windows updates Error code when you try to use Windows Update or Microsoft Update to install updates: "0X80248007"
I download Malwarebytes and it found one item and removed it. Went into safe mode and ran Spybot, Ad-aware, and AVG, did not find anything. I tired Windows Update and received the same message.
    Any suggestions?

Using the website should be equal to the normal windows updating process through the update manager. If that's enabled in your Security center then you're fine. I've frequently found that the windows update homepage is plainly not working and is quite buggy. I think that they don't really do any maintenance on the back end of that service. anyway, just check if automatic updates are enabled and you'll be fine.

Another story would be that the updates get downloaded but none of them is installed...
