Maybe, just maybe, the computing world has been spared another Windows user.
My in-laws are now using Ubuntu.....

Not completely out of choice mind.... sort of my hidden agenda ("It is better for you... much better than Windows...").

They seem quite happy with it so far. Now just need to seat back and wait for the calls to come in... hehe.

I think this is really old but hey.... the thread says it -Ubuntu.
I have been using Debian for a long while but for some reason my D600 hates Linux.
I am using XP.... I never thought I would say this but although the laptop is very slow, the overall experience is better than the one I had with Linux.

On the other hand, another success story - My son's old laptop (AMD single core oldie) is now running Debian. It ran Puppy for awhile and I have to say that my jaw dropped at the performance! But I did not like Puppy's approach to using the system as root from the get-go. So now it is running Debian with XFCE.
So far no complaints. It has VirtualBox so he can use MS Office.... He can do everything as before without the hassle of poor performance and terrible security... ;)
