Hi Guys, I have a friend who has a software program on his PC that requires a dongle to be inserted into the LPT port. He has had the need to replace his PC with a laptop, the laptop does not have a LPT port therefore he needs some sort of adapter that can be plugged into a USB port. We did look at USB-To-25-Pin-RS232-DB25-Female-Parallel-Printer-Adapter Cable, but read that this will only work for a printer and will NOT work for a dongle. The software manufacture say they can supply a new USB dongle, but, that he would have to pay for the complete program to get the dongle, at a cost of £850. Is there any way around this one? TIA Keith
For $12 I would try something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812156005 It says it is for printers only but maybe you would be able to use device manager to map it to an LPT port.
Thanks for your suggestion, but, like the cable I have been looking at, if you read into it it does say not for use with dongles.
