I'm currently running a Celeron 2.0ghz processor, Northwood-128. I have this other CPU, a Pentium 4 1.8ghz, ID sl6la. I'm wondering if the drop in core clock with pay off for more L2 level cache, since the Pentium 4 has 512kb versus the Celeron which has only 128kb. I know the Celerons have several features which are disabled vs the non budget-level processors in the same speed range, but i need an educated opinion on this matter. Don't wanna go through the process of having to clean off and reapply thermal paste and resetting the heatsink just to find out i wasted my time. Also, does anybody have any suggestions to how i should store a cpu when not in the computer itself?

You will not notice a difference between the two..1.8 or 2.0 they are almost the same..

you dont think the L2 cache on the pentium 4 would make a difference?

There would be a little difference ONLY if the CPU was a Dual core or core 2 dual ...
