I have a laptop(operating system linux) with a broken screen and i got a spare monitor.I would like to convert the same to a desktop pc and install windows xp on it .Currently i am using linux os by connecting laptop with my spare monitor using display cable.
Yea! I have one of those here.. It might work, If the install CD will pick up the signal to the external monitor ...What is the make and model of the laptop ? and what is its screen size?
They have that screen on ebay for under $50.00 bucks..Depending on where you are at, If you look real hard then you can get another screen for under $50.00 bucks..
You might be able like I said, But only if the laptop will pickup the external monitor when doing the setup .....Some will and some Won't...All you can do is try it.
i cant see anything during booting process....can u say which key to be pressed to boot using windows xp bootable cd
You have to go into the Bio's, then under boot options, set first boot to cd/dvd...This MUST be done or it will not boot.
will it work if i remove my hard disk from laptop and connect to my desktop pc and install windows xp on the disk and refit to my laptop
NO ! The laptop and the desktop have two different Motherboards, and there go take all different Drivers..
when i connected my laptop hard disk to desktop pc i was able to use linux os which used in my laptop
I am not sure what you are trying to do here.... OK,THE LAPTOP AND YOUR DESKTOP HAVE TWO DIFFERENT TYPES OF MOTHERBOARDS, SO UNLESS THE YOU HAVE THE IDENTICAL MOTHERBOARD IN EACH ONE,THEN IT WILL NOT WORK.. You will have to FORMAT the Hard drive in the laptop..(wipe) and then install Windows XP... You will need to get into the BIO's, then set it to boot from CD FIRST.. under boot order..
