Server Side: WDS settings

>Open WDS console and right click on Boot Image folder and select Add Boot Image. brows to Vista (x86) Boot.WIM file (it has to be x86 version as you are going to install XP which is x86 architecture. for the sake of confusion call it "Install". Let WDS add the image.

>Right click on "Install" and select Create Capture Boot Image. Call it "Capture", you can rename it after.

>Right-click on Install Images and select Add Image group. Call it XP Images for the sake of this setup.

Client Side: Image Capture

>Run setupmgr from XPcd\support tools\deploy.cab. Create a fully-automated Sysyprep answer file. save it as c:\Sysprep\Sysprep.inf

>Run sysprep.exe, select Reboot, Mini-Setup and click on Reseal.

>choose to pxe boot when it reboots.

>choose "Capture" image and let it load up.

>follow the wizzard through. (file name, description, location etc)

>choose to upload image to server tick box and type in server name (only the name should do it)

>it should ask you for credential (username@domain.com format as username, wds can't take short name for some reason)

>select Image Group and that should get you going to capture an Image. As far as I know this Image will be deployed without any errors. i think your are having problem with the Image because you used ImageX to create image. I may very well be wrong. Try using WDS throughout the whole process.

Client Side: Image Deploy

>boot to PXE and select "Install"

>choose country and language

>provide credential

>choose Image

>choose disk/partition. At this stage it should install the Image you captured using the "capture" wizzard and answer all question from that Sysprep.inf you saved in c:\Sysprep\ folder
