Product Id? Product Key? Explaining the 2 please

Hi Whilst downloading Everest the system info tool i noticed " PRODUCT ID" and "PRODUCT KEY". does anyone know what these are please.

They are details you'll need to install the package, some software needs to be activated before it'll work fully, that is likely to be such a package, it works out a key from a machine ID or something.

Be careful if your discussing warez however, the big scary admin with the ban-stick may come a knocking.
