    Default Ram Clock Speed

    Hey all,

I just upgraded from having 2x 256mb of pc2100 ram to 1x of 512mb pc3200, all working ok, but in the bios the dram clock is 200mhz (the highest avaliable), is that right? i thought it was supposed to be 400mhz or am i just being stupid lol

200Mhz is the clock speed which operates at 400Mhz DDR
    so they are correct speeds!

Might be that your BIOS is showing the effective speed of the RAM, as to not confuse the user.

Your BIOS might just display it differently so its easier to understand!
As there is no way it'd run at 800Mhz DDR!

try , using the windows classic theme, as just the windows desktop uses alot of memory.

have you got alot of programs starting up when windows starts up.

go onto task manager, and have a look at processes, end all the unecessery ones.

    Try going into msconfig,

i have no 'silly' programs running, i ended up putting the other 512mb of pc2100 back in with my 512mb of pc3200 to make my comp 1gb of pc2100, now everything is lightning fast

Well now you have two different speeds in there it might be worth considering getting a further 512MB of PC3200 and swapping out the PC2100!
