Default Resolution

i wonder why Sony dropped 1920 x 1080 resolution and opted for the 1280 x 720 instead. Its curious, as the PS3 has that crazy RSX or whatever graphics card, so you figure that putting out 1080p woudn't be a problem, i can't see it costing any more, all the 7 series video cards cat put out 2560x1600 with DVI. i dunno, what are you guys' thoughts
