resolution problem

hi everyone. it's my first time in this forum and i want to say a big "hi" to all.

my problem now.
my monitor crack (something burn on monitor's chipset ) and i get another 15" monitor from a friend,
but with my own monitor i used resolution bigger than 1024x768
and the new monitor does not support over 1024, and when i load win98se the monitor shut off, now i can run my pc only in safe mode or in dos, what can i do to change my graphics card settings in normal mode in win98se? is there any file which i can modify to change the card's config?

In safe mode, lower it to below 1024x768, hit APPLY and then OK. Reboot the machine and startup in the normal mode. That should fix it.
