Default SAMSUNG D900 Battery Life

My D900's battery drains a bit too fast for my liking. After being fully charged in the afternoon, all I do is listen to MP3's and surf around on Opera Mini till midnight when the phone closes my applications to tell me that the battery is flat!

Is this normal?

according to mobile-review.com your mobile should last 260 hours standby, talk time ONLY 3:30 HOURS.

my mother has a samsung and has been known to stress-out over battery issues. no good!

Well listening to MP3's is a killer for battery life and surfing on Opera won't help either.

Darn that's bad news

I had hoped that it was a battery fault. I'm testing now to see how long the battery will last when using tv-out and playing mp3's constantly. Should be interesting

Thanx for the replies

I knew I should've gone for the Sony Ericsson, preferably the W810i which was my second choice. Everywhere I asked they suggested I take the D900 beacause "it's so slim". Who cares?

I agree newpaws, Sony Ericsson's are superb!

My Computer

I know on my PDA if it's in standby it'll last for like a week - if I get bored and watch a video / movie or listen to music it'll last just a few hours.

Wow. Sounds good!

Funnt thing: My D900's battery level hasn't dropped one bit since 11 30 this morning and it's not 14 00 here. It's been playing MP3's on the tv-out. But, the day is still young...

using mp3 wont run down your battery that much as its basically still on standby mode but with a slightly higher power consumption (as long as the LED isnt lit it will last a long time) - wiv mp3s and radio ur battery is walking (instead of just standing on standby)

its the calls and surfing (using the ariel and LEDs) that slaps the battery to sprint mode

It dropped from two thirds to one third in 20 minutes...

I was playing around with the camera and recorded approximately a total of 15 minutes' video

Back to playing mp3's now...

My Computer

correct me if im wrong but if your using your TV for the audio output it MAY use more power as the data has to travel inside the tv curcuits (hense a wider voltage area which causes tention) im not sure if its that simple tho.

try making it throwin your mp3s through traditional earphones etc

Tv-out is audio and video on the tv, which is on my pc.

Anyways, I recorded some videos with the phone with the tv-out mode enabled. Whereafter I playd some mp3's again until now... the battery just died. That was 4 hours of battery life. From fully charged to dead.

I used tv-out the whole time, which does seem to drain allot more power but I'll test it some other day. It playd mp3's most of the time, and recorded and playd back videos in a period of 20 minutes.

My Computer

your battery health outside manufacture limits can be determined by how much warning it gives you before the phone switches off

on a healthy battery you should get about 5mins without changing anything (steady power consumption) and then it should switch off by itself.

if you get little or no warning and your phone just goes dead (or switches off) then your battery is old and worn and not performing to manufacture standards

I get a warning, then about one minute before the phone shuts down.

But I tested the battery using extreme conditions such as the tv-out.

I reckon it'll last longer under standard conditions using it lightely.

But it's charging again... gonna test it tomorrow, playing only mp3's until the batteries dead.
