    SHOCKING! I thought that samsung would have kicked the lite-on's pootie. Doesn't lite-on use plastic lenses? hmm you think a glass lens would be better than plastic but then again, plastics do save lives.

    Actually, Samsung's site was pretty lean on the specs. I'm sure if I really poked around, I could find it, but Samsung's site didn't really disclose it. As for the lens, I'm not sure what Lite-ON has. I know that Optorite drives have a plastic lens, and whoever really makes those drives (Optorite is just one rebadged name for the drive). I'd have stuck with the Lite-ON, but I had major issues with it due to some problems between the nForce 2 chipset IDE drivers and the drive. It was cheaper to get a new drive than a new motherboard.
