just a quickie...plz tell me that a sata2 hard drive will work in a SATA port

Hard drive = 320 GB Seagate Barracudaź SATA2 7200rpm 16MB

MOBO = A8N SLI deluxe

I can confirm that they will work but I might suggest setting it to forced SATA 1.5 mode with a jumper on the hard drive. I happen to own the same motherboard and find it pretty sweet

thank god, will everything be included for me to be able to do that? i did buy the card OEM so i hope this doesnt mean that im going to have to go around looking for other bits and pieces for me to do this...

SATA I and SATA II are cross-compatible. The connections are the same. SATA II has a burst rate of 3GBps vs 1.5GBps with SATA I. In the end, this is just raising a typically untouched ceiling. ATA drives typically sustain around 40MB/s or so.

OEM hard drives will include nothing with the drive. Retail versions typically include the cables and diagnostic and formatting tools (the software isn't required to use the drive and can be acquired for free from the manufacturer).
