What make of scanner is it?

Plug in the scanner and it should come up with the "Add New Hardware", or similar message. Then go through the wizard and specify the CD Drive with your CD in.

That should help.

ok right click my computer, do properties and then hardware something along the top.

I did this last night on my bro's pc so it can be done.

If the scanner is deteced, it will be with a yellow ? and has the name.

Right click, do properties and the update driver.

Then do what I said back up a post.

My Computer

sounds like then that the usb cable/port could be defective.

Try plugging the scanner in to another port.

I don't know what motherboard you have, but you probably should install the chipset drivers, as that could be part of the problem.
