Default Slow folder browsing

hello,

i've recently build a new pc and i have the following problem.

when i browse through my folders each folder takes about a second to open...

so i double click and then for about one second the cursor turns to the hourglass bofore opening the folder.

i have a:

Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST31500341AS, 1.5TB

the only thing that really helped every time i tried it was a voice chat using xfire. when i open xfire its still slow.. when i open a chat window its still slow.. but when a voice chat is established the folders open instantly.

i have absolutely no idea why this is the case maybe one of you can help me out.

pls help because when there are allot of folders to go through a one second delay will end up in 20 seconds before you know it....

thx in advance.

PS: i can't install the latest drivers because those will cause bsod's (its a nvidia motherboard and that driver is known to give bsod's)

i have tried defragging (made no change) and no its not a pirated OS

having a voice chat is THE only thing that works all the time to speed it up so i'm wondering why thats the case.. and how to fix it

MAJOR EDIT:

sorry for my language but OMFG WTF WTH
i thought it had something to do with audio so i also tried with a video and that also worked. then i went to device manager to disable the audio card... that also worked.
so then i was wondering what could be the problem. and the only sound involved when browsing is the little tinywiny "click" you hear when opening the folder. sooo... i disabled the sound for that click and its working so far...-.-'

now lets hope it stays that way.
