My Computer

Default Slow transfer rate with MSN 6.2

Any idea why, despite my firewall being turned off, and 2 one megabit connections, me and my friend's file transfer speed never gets past 5k a sec? it used to be around 100k, but now its dropped. It's at my end of the line as he can send stuff at that speed to other people, just my pc. typical...lol.

any ports that should be open? etc.

Thanks.

Are all file transfers that slow, or just MSN?

Would you mind trying out a Bandwidth Test [BroadbandReports.com] and posting the results here?

My Computer

At www.adslguide.org.uk I got the following:

Actual Speed: Downstream - 916 Kbps (114.5 KB/sec)
Actual Speed: Upstream - 154 Kbps (19.3 KB/sec)

True Speed: Downstream - 989 Kbps (inc. overheads)
True Speed: Upstream - 166 Kbps (inc. overheads)

So you know, I recently got a wireless connectio, which, for some reason suddenly stops responding at time, and needs a restart to browse the web again.

Thanks.
