Arrow So I quit WoW...

...Gave away my junk, closed my account, the works. I didn't realize so many 12-year-olds could congregate in one place outside of Jr. High School... now I know better. Great game, crappy players, crappy servers, crappy atmosphere. Bye, World of Warcraft; I have better things to do with my life.

Nothing specific; call it an epiphany. I was playing one moment, while a bunch of players argued about stupid topics and exhibited no real signs of intelligence, and next thing I knew I was quitting without a second thought. All at once, I felt like I was wasting my life at that moment, and it was urgent that I quit and do something more meaningful. I don't know if that's deep or merely cliche, but that's how I feel about it.

And about time too.... my wife would kiss you for this statement.
I think it is about time we all turned our beasts off and go and play outside!!!

COM'ON GEEKS!!!! The sun is shining!!! your families are missing you and the grass needs cutting.... hehe

More to the point - I did the same when I realised that I was crying after being jailed or hospitalised in 'Torn City'

Ugh, Diablo II? That game is really pointless imo

I quit playing EverQuest more than a year ago, summer '05. But in my case, only because I got robbed by Sony. I was falsely accused of buying a **LOT** of stuff (over a million platinum pieces worth) from someone who robbed someone else's account. So they deleted a bunch of my very expensive gear. This was completely false; they said that I bought it all from 1 player in a space of 2 days but in reality all that gear was bought separately from different players at different times with some of it like a month or more old. So at the time I quit because of getting very pissed. But now I kinda miss it sometimes but not enough to go back. I guess I would play again if my friend did though. But he quit too. That game keeps going downhill anyway -- every new expansion makes it more stupid.

Now I'm really looking forward to Vanguard though! It's designed by many of the old EQ designers who were on the EQ team back in the early days when it was good. EQ started going more and more downhill as the members of the early team left or got kicked out by Sony. So maybe this new game will be like oldschool EQ all over again ... that was a blast!

But more to the point, congrats on quitting WoW lol. I've never tried it but I've heard the same general complaint about too many stupid kids from others. Plus my EQ friend says its too repetitive and gets boring quick anyway.

I would like to play WoW but yeah I can only imagine how many fools are online with you every minute so that aspect doesn't sound so fun. One of my friends quit for a similar reason actually, that and he had a big revilation that games were ruling his life and he needed to prioritize, so, that last I knew, he had quit gaming as a whole. Didn't think he had it in him.

lol wow i just thought of this but i quit gaming for awhile they distracted me and they lost their apeal, weren't really fun anymore. Then i bought a pc or actually two, but anyways i'm playing games again. Oh yes i was big into the diablo II open battle net. On topic more i don't like WoW, i am waiting for a better MMO, possibily huxley, but thats a MMOFPS so i dunno anyways i think MMO's take up to much time. oooo just remeber i used to play a MMO called Runescape all the time and that definetly wasn't worth it, or actually it was until it got really popular out of nowhere and one of the people who made it got really stupid and ruin a lot of stuff.

Runescape ... wow i just looked it up and it says on Wikipedia that it has 9 million+ players ... "RuneScape is one of the top online games of the world" ... dang that's crazy. Can't believe it's so popular but I had just barely heard of it somewhere b4 like a couple times and still don't even know what it's like at all.

You quit WOW without any side effects. Maybe you should write a book on your online torment and leave some valuble tips on how to exit WOW without going completely nuts.

I managed to quit for 3 weeks not long ago. It was amazing, i discovered this thing called a social life and saw people i may have been neglecting through my love of WOW.

Well my back to reality was short-lived. The first sign of having no money to socialise with the demons within me told me i should go back to the promised land of Shadowsong.

So i was dragged back into the online gaming world.

I think i may be slightly addicted, is there any help for lifelong vampire gamers who play all night and sleep all day.

Incidentally there is a programme on ITV tonight which is also called 'Tonight' and it is looking at the addictiveness of Video games.
