    Default sound driver problem

I have a fujitsu-siemens scaleo P, with a Asus P5SD2-FM motherboard. When changing operating system to windows xp, the sound driver files on the system discs that came with the pc no longer work. The realtek drivers from their website do not work either.

According to the manual here it has a realtek ACL880.

    cheers

Download a program called Everest identifier , then look at audio to make sure that is what you are running for sure,, Next If you are not able to install the right drivers for the onboard sound, the get a pci sound card and install it..

It doesn't see any audio only some windows audio in the multimedia(displaying "modem #0 blablabla" for each option) area. Could anybody recomend any cheap, decent sound cards? (less than £50)

look under multimedia , If there is nothing there, Then click on Computer, then Summary.. Take a close look there to see if you can see anything to do with sound..Multimedia.. Next if you can't find nothing there ,then you might want to buy a pci sound card... I am running a Creative Sound Blaster..

I have a seperate radeon x1550 video card, and it is only the sound. A new sound card will probably be easiest and simple.

edit:Trust 5.1 SC 5250 sound card works fine, for only £19.99!
