Default sounds like a jet engine!!!

No problem really, just when im round different friends houses their pc's run so quietly. Mine sounds like takeoff at heathrow. Is there anyway to keep the noise to a minimum without spending loads of wonga.

got 2 case fans, a thermaltake 80mm cpu fan and 500w psu.

Sometimes it keeps people awake at night

check if fanguardian (or whatever it is called in your BIOS) is enabled in the BIOS and set the fan which corresponds to your CPU, but maybe it's another fan...you should check which one it actually is...
...oh and did planes make so much noise those days at heathrow ?
check Speedfan for you fan speeds...

My computer also does that, even though I've removed most of the fans.

This is usually because the fans are cheap generic kinds, better brands tend to be much quieter, especially the CPU fans.

ive got that fan speed program which is a great help.
case fans running at 1542rpm and 1436rpm.
    cpu fan running at 2272rpm.

Incidentally my cpu fan is a variable speed fan and it aint set much above ground speed.

if i turn down the speed my cpu runs hot

tis defo the 80mm fan making the most noise but think its all the fans running together that amplifies it

oh yeah and the fan thing is already set in bios.

It's only really a good idea to invest in quiet fans if you're bothered by the noise, I personally hate loud computers the phrase "seen and never heard" is how I like my 'towers'.

Go for fans from the likes of:
    Akasa,
    Coolermaster,
    Thermaltake,
    Vantec,
    Zalman

In my case all my fans are quiet and all but 1 are from known manufacturers - It helps to keep the noise level to a minimum

    2 x 80mm Coolermaster Blue LED Fans
1 x 120mm Quiet Fan (unsure of model but it makes virtually no noise)
1 x 40mm Akasa Blue LED NorthBridge Fan (for a small fan that spins so fast it's damn quiet I must say)
CPU HSF - Arctic Cooling Freezer 4
PSU Fans - 2 x 80mm Fans, one is load / temperature controlled though and the other one is slient (It's a Tagan PSU best thing I've bought in god-knows-how-long)
VGA Cooler - Vantec Iceberq 5 Cooling Kit - That's the loudest fan in my system, even then it's damn near silent

That's just an example of cooling I use, I'm a noise freak and can't stand my PC being loud. >_<
