My Computer

Default Speaker wire

Now then, I bought some speakers a few months back, and I was amazed to find that the power supply, was not a plug, but an adapter to fit into the back of my pc - which the pc power plug then fitted into.
Now I have been told that this is using up/could overload the psu, and also, the adapter keeps slipping out, meaning my computer restarts as the power plug falls out also.
I've had enough of this, so I'm wondering if it would be possible to cut the adapter head off, and fit a 3-pin plug to it - then plug it in like everything else (into the mains)
I can then use my pc power cable as normal and get ALL of my speakers working.
Is it safe to do this, and would it work?

My Computer

i'd take the speakers back to the store and get some normal ones...

never heard of a speaker needing a direct connection to the PSU.

I don't think splicing the wire and adding a 3pin plug would work, as the wires are probably different.
