Static Sound :(

Hi All

here is my setup: Onboard Soundmax Soundcard >> an amplifyer(that i rebuilt at home becuse some of the circutary was broken) >> 4 speakers.

Now this lot has been working perfectly for ages, but now when i push the volume up high (but not more than it could handle before) it starts crackiling (it sounds almost like static)

is this the sound card or the amp?

Try muting the mic input in the sound control panel.
