Default still works but strangely

Hey guys,

I am having a problem with my soundcard. I have 2 sound cards, before i installed the external one I still had the same problem and also using the external one doesn't seem to help it. I have realised that when I open or switch between applications I get this static. At first I thought it was my headset, then I tried using my headset on my mp3 and the built in speakers of my laptop. I updated the sound drivers and this doesn't seem to help either. Sometimes i can solve the problem by opening a fullscreen application like counterstrike source and then alt-tab out of it. Most of the time i need to open and close counter strike source before and after playing music windows media player and restarting that too. As you can imagine this is quite irritating. Can anyone help me?

It actually sounds like you have alot of gain going on. Do you keep your headphones turned up almost full blast?

No I don't turn my headphones up really loud. It is usually fine if i reboot or something like that. Seems to be triggered by the startup of certain programs. I am using an on-board sound card I have updated the drivers.
