Default Strange problem with router Belkin

Hi!
Something very strange happened recently. I have two computers at home and they both share a single internet connection. My ISP doesn't allow a single connection to be shared if you don't pay the price for a second PC. In order to avoid that expense I installed a router - Wireless G Router Blekin Model: F5D7320-4. Everything was flawless until Christmas! Suddenly my download speed was reduced to 20KB/s (from 3,5 MB/s). I thought that the problem was in the network of my ISP. But before I called my ISP I connected my PC directly (w/o router). The problem disappeared. Then I changed the router with a different one - Linksys. There was no problem again. So the only thing left to do was to find the problem in the Belkin-router. I tried reseting it, installing a new firmware (which wasn't successful) - nothing!. Eventually i went to my vendor and they were kind enough to replace my router with a new one (the same model of course). The same problem reappeared. What is the cause for this strange "behavior" and how can i resolve this problem.
Thanks in advance!

Could be the MTU size in the Belkin... it may not be able to determine the correct value automatically. If you're using a PPPOE connection and the Belkin is set to an MTU of 1500, your packets will fragment badly and you'll lose a lot of performance. You can try setting the MTU lower, to 1492, and see if that helps. If that doesnt, try an MTU of 1452, 1412, 1400, or 1360. Be warned that the bigger the MTU the better, but if it's too big for your connection it'll only work against you. So, you should be trying to use the biggest MTU that works right.

Belkin has a horrible reputation for routers, and it's well-deserved. If all else fails, you might just want to get your money back on the grounds of a defective product, then buy a router from one of Belkin's competitors instead.

My Computer

before you do anything, you should backup your configuration then try resetting the router to it's factory defaults and re-enter all the info your ISP provided you with, see if that works

BTW: personally i don't have experience with Belkin routers, however, my Hayes router has an "auto-configure" option in the Protocol, however, i use a dynamic connection so i may be talking cr4p

Edit: & reboot the router
