My Computer

why not try and do a disk cleanup get rid of all those unnecessary files and then do some disk defragmenter to get rid off fragmented files. that should help your system and give it some boost. to do disk cleanup and disk defragmenter go to accessories/ System tools/disk cleanup or disk defragmenter

Do you have any cleaning software ? Get CCleaner, and a good optimizer..
like Ace utilities or TuneUp 2008...Then visit BlackViper website to fine tune windows. ALSO go into system services and disable indexing service...
Defragging will also help..

Can you be a bit more specific in terms of what has slowed down? Is it purely accessing files or is it system wide. The suggestions of Pimp and Ghostman are perfectly valid and practical but they wouldn't account for a sudden slowdown. If I were you'd I'd check what services are starting automatically at boot and maybe do some checks for viruses and malware.

Installed anything new recently?
