is it taboo to clone a disk to a smaller drive? i want to do something else with my bigger, better hdd and would like to clone the OS off onto a smaller drive. will it work or does the clone destination have to be equal or larger than the source? i would be using Tru Image 9.0 for the clone. Otherwise maybe i could restore a disk image to the new drive?

What is the origin drive and what is the destination drive?
Are there any partitions in the origin? What is the size of the image?

origin drive is 100 GB SATA, destination is 80 GB PATA. I want to move the OS so that i can use the SATA drive in a RAID array. Disk image size is approx 10 GB and there is only 1 partition on the source drive.
