hi... i was just wondering about the system requirements for doom 3... cause i can play the beta version just fine but i found this website (http://topic.news.filefront.com/3683) that says the requirements will be a lot higher. well im just wondering... thanks in advance :good: my specs: p4 2400mhz gigabyte 9600se 128mb oc 325/245 soyo p4vtp with via pt800 chipset 640mb ram pc2700
If Doom3 doesn't run on those specs, I can see why Id hasn't released it yet. They're waiting for the home PC to get a little better on average. Really though, you should be able to play the game, and in more than minimum detail. I ran the alpha on an Athlon XP 2000+ with a Radeon 8500 at the time, and it ran as well as other people's systems who had specs twice that good (15-60 FPS). If Doom 3 won't run on your specs, may God have mercy on Id, for they have wasted years of development. :swt: Just think of all the Dell customers they'll miss out on!
If those are the minmum requirements, they will be alienating much of their potential buyers. I'd say that'd be right for the optimal play, or the minimum specs in a couple years, but then again, it hasn't been released yet, so I wouldn't get too excited about the requirements just yet.
yeah, i dont think you'll have anything to worry about with those specs, its not that detailed of a game
You have to keep in mind that people don'T have systems like the ones you see in sigs in forums like Rage3d, amdforums, here, etc. They want to sell their games so they make sure that their game runs on mainstream systems. My system is far from being mainstream and I am confident that it will run it good, unless it comes out in 5 years....
Official Doom3 Minimum Specs Todd Hollenshead, id's chief executive, said Doom 3 will require: • A 1.5-gigahertz Intel Pentium 4 chip or AMD Athlon 1500. • 384 megabytes of memory. • Two gigabytes of hard drive space. • An nVidia GeForce 3 graphics card or better; or an ATI Technologies 8500 or better.
I guess that also means, every setting must be set to the lowest possible quality?! minimu m specs never seem to be accurate!
I dunno, it probably still looks better than a lot of games, even on the minumum specs. I played the leaked alpha on a system that was close to the minimum specs, and it was playable. That says something since the Alpha ran so horribly on even nice systems.
But the alpha was made a long time ago so they have improved many aspects of the game, including graphics, which means no one can really compare that to what it's really gonna be. I also think that no system will be able to play that game in its full glory at the moment: settings at their highest with AA and AF cranked all the way up, 16x12.
