    Fake Mailer - Free Download

I am looking to mess with my friends by sending them fake emails, but the online ones that i have found require the from address to be a real one. I found this program, but am wary to download it in case of spyware, etc. Anyone ever used it, or know of something else that will do what i want?

If you host your own mail server you can spoof your sender address, but mail servers upstream from you can still tell that it didn't come from where you claim it did.

thanks for the replys guys. But no way to spoof email eh? Thats too bad, it would have been fun to see the look on his face when he sees an email from the FBI that says he sells pirated software...

It is possible, but as AT said it is also possible to tell if an email came from where it says it did.

I'm guessing your friend is using a hotmail account?

Unfortunately, There's not much point :/

The mail will be labeled as suspicious (or whatever tag it is hotmail uses, i havnt used it for ages) and it will be put in the junk mail folder!

You would have more luck sending him a fake letter! (From the RIAA? :p)

Of course its probably illegal.... :/
