    As expected, AMD’s flash sales have been down this year. The microprocessor firm lost $39million this year In the flash business. Despite the increased sales of its CPUs.
    The CEO Hector Ruiz said that it was “an underwhelming and disappointing end to the otherwise good year.” He said AMD would do "whatever it takes" to increase value for its shareholders, so he wasn't ruling it out. Not that losing $39 million is a good thing. He said: "It makes me puke to lose $39 million".

    Firefox the open source web browser has done well with 5% of internet users using Firefox over IE’s 90%. Figures from web-monitoring outfit WebSideStory show that the use of the open source browser, Firefox, use has more than doubled in the last three months.

    And in the Intel corner roadmaps show that Intel is steadily adding different components to its desktop microprocessors, in a bid to combat AMD and wrench back its performance crown.
    The firm will add EM64T 64-bit support to its existing 5XX Pentium 4s in the second quarter, and to its 3XX Celeron D processor range in the same period.
    Presler is a 65 nanometre dual core processor, as is its sister chip Yonah on the mobile front and early samples are already being tested for release next year. These Presler chips are 65 nanometre processors. Preslers are likely to clock at 3.6GHz and above.
    Smithfield dual core chips appear to be slated for the second quarter, and will form the 8XX series of Intel processors, aimed at both the gaming market and the mainstream market too. Intel will also add Vanderpool (VT) tech to the 6XX series of chips in the second half of this year, it has emerged. The Intel 2.8, 3, 3.2 and 3.4GHz in socket 428 will become legacy chips.
