    i have a 40 gig maxtor and a 2.5 gig seagate

i have my 40gig just, as normal hard drive with windows xp home on it and all my other stuff.

my firend gave me this old seagate and i tried putting it in, i think i have the jumpers correct. when i start up it goes to a black screen with "No Operating System Found" at the top, and every five seconds it has anopther line saying the same thing. (i have 40gig as master and seagate as slave)

i havent really tried anything..but when i try the seagate all byu itself the sam thing happens

    yeah...no idea what to do

i would also like a different bios...where would i get one?

The seagate might not have any OS on it and if the system is trying to boot off of it, that's your problem.

Do you need to flash a new BIOS? If not, then don't. If you do check : http://www.hardwareforums.com/showthread.php?t=1652

You'll need to know the exact motherboard you have. You can't just go flash anything you want. Also, if you have the latest BIOS for your board, there's no real good reason to flash it to something older.
