Wow, you're talented! That is a theme alright, but that particular one seems to be just the source code, it must be compiled. :) However, if you followed my guide on setting up repositories in Mandriva, you can just download the lipstik theme from your package manager.

Heheheh, just do a search in your package manager for "theme" and install them all! That should give you something to get started with. :)

    The instructions are pretty simple...

    Extract the package

    Replace Style/lipstik.cpp with Style/lipstik.cpp in your lipstik-directory.

    Replace Style/config/lipstikconf.cpp with Style/config/lipstikconf.cpp in your lipstik-directory.

    Replace Style/config/lipstikconf.h with Style/config/lipstikconf.h in your lipstik-directory.

Change to your lipstik-directory and run "configure" (you don't need to if you executed "configure" before), "make" and as root "make install".

This last step is to be done on the command line.
    cd /lipstick/directory/whereever/it/is

    then
    ./configure

    then
    make

    then (as root)
    make install

Lots of text will fly by and when it stops look for the word error near the flashing cursor. If no "errors" are there then it should have worked fine. You've compiled from source!

    You dont have listick installed?

This is the beauty of source! The dependancies.

    You'll have to install lipstick.

If your using lipstik 2.2 look at the note daihard left under the heading of "compile error"

Willz, there is no need to make 3 threads covering the same topic!

I don't want to be rude but looking at your previous threads you really need to read what other people are posting. The answers are right in front of you but you are obviously skim reading.

Please, SLOW DOWN!! :) Take your time and make sure you understand what other people are saying.

Anti-Trend has already suggested in your other thread that you search the package manager for themes. Have you tried that yet?

Yes i have tried that, infact i will do it again:
    I did not get Lipstik.

I downloaded LipStik from the link in the readme, i don't know what to do with it now tho.

Sorry for making another thread, this is infact the second thread i made on theming, i did nto think before i posted it that i have one allready for styling.

Damn, at the moment it's a big decision, either keep on pulling my hair out trying to get theming and other things sorted for linux, or go back to windows and re-install every 3 weeks :(

Theres more to computing than looks, you really shouldn't be switching back to windows just because you're having problems with themes.

just install all the kde/theme packages you can find using Mandriva's package manager, and maybe lipstik will be installed.

Failing that, find a different theme which can be installed easily.

Edit:  Lipstik KDE-Look.org theres lipstik 2.2. You'll need to do what one of the commenters said in that mod's page to make it work since this is 2.2

I am trying to install lipstik 2.2 following this in install:
    ----- Building from sources:

First make sure that you have both the QT and KDE development headers
    installed. (qt and kdelibs devel)

Then unpack the sources somewhere you have writing rights.

In a terminal (konsole, xterm, eterm, etc.), type :

    ./configure

    make

    (Then, as root):
    make install

    --

If any of these steps fail, do:

    make -f Makefile.dist

It wont work, i change directory to were the files are, then do ./configure, it does this:

    Code:
    [will@localhost lipstik-2.2]$ ./configure

Willz, before you were trying to compile a mod before the program the mod was for.The initial mod you were installing involved replacing 3 files.

    from the mod readme
I take it you did this?

Then daihard added that if you copy these files over and try to compile lipstik at a later date (possibly a re-compile) it doesnt compile correctly. But he discovered that if you add....
    bool _enableVitesque;
    bool _compressedMenus;

to lipstik.h the problem is solved.

In lipstik.h there will probably be a long list of entries starting with bool_
Id try adding the extra 2 entries at the bottom of the bool_ lines.

Thing is does your distro normally install in /usr or /usr/local?

You might have to replace ./configure with ./configure --prefix=/usr

I cant say for sure because ive not used your distro, which ever it is.

    Where was your lipstik.h file?

You almost never need to instll with the --prefix argument since the configure script will install in the right place. (its not like an LFS system).

Make sure that the package gcc-cpp is installed, since it seems the cpp compiler isn't installed.
