    Hi,

We have a number of HP 8200 Elite PC's where a user would change the screen resoution and after a while the screen goes black and displays a message saying 'auto detect - optimal resolution 1280 x 1024'.

There seems to be no way of getting back into the PC so the power button has to be held in to switch the PC off. On boot up we then need to press F8 to get into the settings and reselect 'VGA mode'' which then allows the PC to boot back up.

Once the user has logged back in they set the screen res to the default 1280 x 1024. This seems ok for a minute or but then the res changes itself back to 800 x 600 then will almost instantly black out and again displays the message 'auto detect - optimal resolution 1280 x 1024' ... then are back at square 1.

We have a range of Dell PC's here but this only seems to happen with the HP 8200 Elite PC's.

Any help or advice would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks
