I partitioned my disk into 2 100Gb partitions, C: and D: drives. I loaded all my games onto the second partition, Drive D:. The problem is, my desktop shortcuts will lose their connection sometimes and I will have to make new ones. Not only that, but when I try to apply certain game patches, it says that the game isn't installed in that folder, but it is. Could that be the partitioning's fault?

no, i don't think partitioning's the problem, you may just need an update from MS, i think its some thing to do with DEP (but not sure), i think this may explain a few things, hope i was helpful
