opened up pc today to replace the CPU (changing from an i3 2100 to i7 3770k) and so i unplugged all plugs from the motherboard and plugged back in once the i7 and the hyper evo heatsink were installed. 24pin connected, 8pin to cpu connected, all system fans connected. Both HDD's plugged in sata and powered. Power turned on, all motherboard lights/fan lights/psu lights turn on fans spinning, and then shuts off after 6 seconds and cycles. Im not sure did i do connections badly so id appreciate if someone could run through it with me. Specs: Corsair GS700 Gtx780 MSI P67A-G45 seagate barracuda 1tb WD caviar blue 1tb i3 2100/i7 3770k
Check CPU Socket pins first. Then connectors. I assume you know where to put them. So common mistake is to put CPU 4-pin connector to ATX pins. Alternatively putting ATX 24-pin connector 4-pins to CPU 4-pin connector. Also some may plug PCI Express 8-pin connector into CPU 8pin connector. Check those first.
